Library v. Internet

Alright so if you read my last post you would know that I am analyzing a song for our upcoming essay assignment. I wanted to try and find the history of this song. Like anything that could tell my why he wrote it. So first I went to the library (thinking that I'd find what I neede on the internet later anyway) So after about an hour on the databases, and half an hour looking through books that I found on Mr. Cash I had found zero information on what I was trying to find.
So I'm on google for 3 minutes and sure enough find exactly what I needed from a credible source! (archived in the US embassy) It was incredibly helpful because it helped me further prove the points I am trying to make to support him. Long story short he wrote this song as a protest against society! Exactly what I was hoping for :) Anyway I don't have much else to say so here's the song, I hope you enjoy it.

  1. Sydney, that is an excellent example of thinking outside the box. I wold have never thought to have done a rhetorical analysis of a song but after reading your post, I think it will be a very interesting read to say the least. I have liked Johnny Cash for a very long time, and had no idea what his motivation behind the song was. After reading your post and before writing this comment, I took your advice and listened to the song. Looking at it from the standpoint you mentioned, I found some meaning in it instead of just glossing over the words like I have numerous times before. Good luck on your paper, I'm very interested to see how it develops.

  2. Sydney,
Researching on the Kent Library was incredibly difficult for me too. I found no information regarding my topic, and the whole process was just confusing. It took me no time at all to find reliable information on the internet for my topic. I would choose the internet over Kent Library any day.
