So the basics of this song is him justifying why he wears black all of the time. I plan to analyze in 2 major ways: first playing off of the pathos of the whole song because he explains that he wears it for the people who are poverty stricken and things of that nature. And second I'm going to show the ethos side of it when he explains that for every rich person their should be someone for the poor.
Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.
Also I'll analyze how he uses some metaphors and imagery to support his argument that basically their are people who are neglected and need help that we are ignoring.

Sydney,
ReplyDeleteI hope there won't be a "Ring of Fire" when you "Walk the line" in doing this. I am a huge fan of Mr. Cash and can't wait to see some of your work on this matter through the forum. Your post has definitely caught my attention.
Sydney, that is a brave and interesting move on your part in considering to analyze a song. Cash was an interesting person and very troubled soul and his thoughts and views will differ from person to person and it should be an interesting paper to see how you see how the world perceives him.
ReplyDeleteSydney,
ReplyDeleteI think it is so cool that you analyzed a song! That was really creative and I am really impressed by it. You are certainly going to have an interesting topic while writing your essay. This was an out of the box choice, but it seems like you know exactly what you’re doing and how you are going to analyze it. Good luck and great job!
